The Blueprint Tryptich is a series of three prints taken from zinc plates that were made for the tabletop of the IRON GENIE harmonograph sculpture. They represent 'blueprints' of the underlying natural geometries, printed with traditional Prussian Blue ink to evoke old-fashioned engineer's blueprints.
Only four original prints were taken from each plate before they were incorporated into the sculpture, making this a limited edition. Each print measures H. 57 cm X W. 53 cm. The images are also available as high-quality and full-sized Giglee Prints.
Rorshasch Ink Blots were the inspiration for these experiments in shaped etching plates. The zinc plates were first cut and finished with Dremmel tools and hand files. The plates were then etched with the impressions of fresh leaves pressed into soft-ground, before taking prints.
The plates themselves have a sculptural quality, and have been incorporated into the Dark Mirror installation.
